Packaged in a 15 GM tube, this cream is a triple-combination therapy, meaning it addresses three distinct causes of skin irritation simultaneously.

Active Composition

The effectiveness of Oviderm-NC lies in its synergistic formulation. Each ingredient targets a specific biological factor of skin distress:

1. Beclomethasone Dipropionate (0.025% w/w): A potent corticosteroid. It works by suppressing the body’s inflammatory response. It reduces the production of prostaglandins and leukotrienes, which are chemicals that cause redness, swelling, and itching.

2. Clotrimazole (1.00% w/w): A broad-spectrum antifungal agent. It belongs to the azole class and works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes. This leads to the disruption of the fungal cell wall and eventual death of the fungus.

3. Neomycin Sulphate (0.50% w/w): An aminoglycoside antibiotic. It targets bacterial infections by binding to the bacterial ribosome, preventing the synthesis of essential proteins. This makes it highly effective against a range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.

Therapeutic Indications

Oviderm-NC is primarily used for skin conditions where inflammation is complicated by a secondary infection or where there is a high risk of one. Common uses include:

• Mixed Skin Infections: When it is unclear if a rash is purely fungal or bacterial.

• Eczema and Dermatitis: Especially when scratching has led to broken skin and subsequent bacterial infection.

Mechanism of Action

When applied to the skin, the three ingredients work in tandem. While Beclomethasone calms the immediate “fire” of the skin (the itching and burning), Clotrimazole and Neomycin eliminate the underlying pathogens. This “shotgun approach” is particularly useful for stubborn skin issues that do not respond to single-ingredient creams.

Directions for Use and Precautions
